A single day offshore is a great start, but some of Panama’s best fishing grounds are too far for a day trip. Hacienda del Mar: fishing with an island hotel
Hacienda del Mar is on Isla San José, in the Pearl Islands. You fish remote Pacific waters during the day and return to comfortable island lodging between fishing days, with breakfast included.

- Rate per private boat per day, hotel included: US$3,300 aboard the Hatteras 40 “Makaira” or US$2,700 aboard the Stamas 39 “Majo V”.

Pro Fishing Expedition: we go where the action is
The Pro Fishing Expedition is built around the destination with the best fishing conditions. Possible destinations include Piñas Bay, the southern Pearl Islands, Pedasí, Cambutal, Playa Venado and other productive areas of Panama’s Pacific. Every destination is discussed and agreed in advance.
- Length: several days, usually four days of fishing.
- Price: by quotation. It depends on the destination and on where you stay: aboard the boat, at Hacienda del Mar or in other areas such as Contadora, Pedro González or Playa Venado.
- Anglers: up to 4.
- Lodging, meals and logistics: arranged around the destination and included in your quote.
- Species: blue, black and striped marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, big dorado and wahoo, with chances for cubera snapper and amberjack.

What about black marlin?
Black marlin are highly migratory and can show up in many areas, including the Gulf of Panama. In more than 22 years of our own fishing records, the best odds have been south of the Pearl Islands and toward Piñas Bay, where deep ocean water meets the continental drop-off close to reefs that hold a lot of bait. For the best chance, we recommend a Pro Fishing Expedition or a Hacienda del Mar package of 2 to 4 days. Black marlin is always a possibility, never a guarantee, and all billfish are released.
