Boat Tours near Coronado and Playa Blanca, Panama: Which Private Trip to Choose

If you are staying in Coronado, Playa Blanca, Río Hato, Santa Clara or San Carlos, the ocean is the best part of the trip. You do not need to go back to Panama City to get on a boat: every Majo Fishing Lodge trip leaves from Vista Mar Marina in San Carlos, in the middle of the Pacific Riviera. This guide helps you choose the right private trip for your group.

Why a Private Boat?

All our trips are private: the boat, the captain and the crew are only for your group. You set the pace, choose your music and decide whether to spend more time swimming, snorkeling or fishing. We run two boats: the Hatteras 40 “Makaira” and the Stamas 39 “Majo V”.

Isla Farallón, 6 Hours: The Classic Island Day

Isla Farallón is the volcanic rock you see from the beaches of Farallón and Playa Blanca. The 6-hour Farallón trip includes swimming and snorkeling (two snorkel sets on board), music and a barbecue on board, and light fishing can be added along the way. Up to 10 guests. Best for families and groups of friends who want an easy, complete day on the water. Curious about the island? Read the history and legends of Isla Farallón.

Bona and Otoque, 8 Hours: A Full Day in the Gulf of Panama

For a longer adventure, the 8-hour Bona & Otoque trip takes you to two islands in the Gulf of Panama: Otoque, with its fishing villages, and Boná, a protected wildlife refuge full of frigatebirds and boobies. Swimming, snorkeling and light fishing along the route. Best for groups who want a real island expedition. Learn more about the history of Bona, Otoque and Estivá.

Sunset Trip, 2 Hours: The Easiest Plan

The Sunset Trip runs from 4:00 to 6:00 PM along the San Carlos coastline toward Isla Farallón, aboard the Stamas 39, with music, ice and water. Best for couples, birthdays and anyone who wants the ocean without planning a whole day.

Booze Cruise Party, 3 Hours: Celebrate on the Water

The Booze Cruise Party runs from 3:30 to 6:30 PM aboard the Stamas 39. Ice and water are included; bring your own drinks and our crew will serve them, or add our national beer and soda combo. Best for bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays and groups of friends.

Family Fishing, 4 Hours: First Fish for the Kids

The 4-hour family fishing trip stays close to the coast, targeting small and medium-size fish, with the chance to see dolphins and, in season, whales. Best for families with children, grandparents and beginners.

Half-Day Fishing, 6 Hours: More Action

The 6-hour half-day charter, on the Hatteras 40 or the Stamas 39, gives more time and range to work coastal and near-offshore waters for game fish. Up to 8 guests. Best for anglers who want real action without a full offshore day. Serious anglers can look at our full-day offshore programs for sailfish and marlin.
