Staying in Panama City? How to Plan Your Fishing Trip with Majo

Many of our guests land in Panama City and want to fish the Pacific with us. Our boats do not depart from Panama City: every trip departs from Vista Mar Marina in San Carlos, at Km 92 of the Pan-American Highway, about an hour and a half west of the city. Here is how to plan the trip, which program fits and how to book it.

Which trip makes sense when you come from the city?

If you are traveling from Panama City, plan a full day or several days on the water, so the trip is worth it:

• Pro Fishing, 10 hours: a full offshore day for sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna and dorado, for up to five anglers. US$2,850 aboard the Hatteras 40 “Makaira” or US$2,400 aboard the Stamas 39 “Majo V”.
• Hacienda del Mar, 2 to 4 days: fishing in the Pearl Islands with an island hotel on Isla San José, breakfast included, for up to 4 guests. US$3,300 per day aboard the Hatteras or US$2,700 per day aboard the Stamas.
• Pro Fishing Expedition: several days of fishing at an agreed destination, such as Piñas Bay or the southern Pearl Islands, for up to 4 anglers. It is quoted for each trip, because the price depends on the destination and on where you stay: aboard the boat, at Hacienda del Mar or in other areas such as Contadora, Pedro González or Playa Venado.

Getting to Vista Mar Marina

• Drive yourself. About an hour and a half by road, depending on traffic. The marina is at Km 92 of the Pan-American Highway, in San Carlos.
• Add our round-trip transportation. US$300 per group from Panama City. We pick you up, drive you to Vista Mar Marina and take you back after the trip.

How to book, step by step

1. Choose your program: Pro Fishing for one full day, Hacienda del Mar for 2 to 4 days, or the Pro Fishing Expedition for a longer trip.

2. Book online or ask for a quote. Pro Fishing and Hacienda del Mar are booked online with a 30% deposit. For the Expedition, message us on WhatsApp with your dates, group size and target species, and we send you a quote.

3. Add transportation from Panama City if you need it.

4. Pay the balance before departure. Every trip is paid in full before the boat leaves the marina.

5. Meet us at Vista Mar Marina on the day, or wait for our driver at your hotel.

What is included

Every fishing trip includes the fishing license, rods and tackle, a fighting chair, ice and water, an air-conditioned cabin with a bathroom, the captain and a mate, and cleaning and filleting of your catch. Billfish are always released; tuna, dorado and other table fish can be kept.

Choose your dates by species

Each species has its season, and some are fished outside our area on multi-day trips. Check our Panama fishing season calendar and tell us what you want to catch. Black marlin is a possibility, never a guarantee.
